Day 1, Vancouver to Mission:
69kms, 3 wipeouts, 1 flat tire and a lot of Excitment!
The Team is finally off! After months of preperation the Chain Reaction Ride officially began at 9:00 am May 2nd in Vancouver B.C.
The team was greeted by a loyal group that braved the rain. Mark, Vern and Ken were accompanied by their wives Nola, Dena and Audry. Each riders had a different expression as they began from Vern's "what did I get myself into" to Ken's "so how far is this ride anyway"
As promised the team took the opporunity to dip their tires in the Pacific ocean as they began their ride.
A big thanks to Bow Cycle of Calgary who helped outfit the team!
After the Beach the Team hit the road in the rain.
In Maple Ridge the team was greeted by Deddy Geese of Hagens Travel, city news and respresentatives from the city. They had a quick lunch and were on their way!
By the end of the day the rain had stopped, Dena has fallen of her bike twice, Ken once, while also getting lost for a time, and Vern rode the last 20km on a flat tire. Day 1 is in the books!
Grea first day everyone! Keep going strong!
